first semester

My first semester of school is almost done and I have to say that it was not as bad as I thought. I have been away from school from a long time. 10 years to be exact and I thought it was going to be really really tough. Don't get me wrong it is not easy, but I got back into the flow of things. Now I have to keep it up!

This is bad

Jobless claims is the highest it been since week ended July 25, 1992. Every job is in jeopardy. We may no longer have american automobiles. I even read that the ski resorts are laying people off! Something has to give. There is a bailout plan that keeps changing after it has gotten passed. This economy also is in cardiac arrest and nothing seems to be putting life back into it. I know it will get better because historically it always does. It is just tough.

Thanksgiving is around the corner

I love thanksgiving!! It is brings family together with a lot of great food! We usually do Thanksgiving at my house. We talk, laugh and eat turkey. And just when everybody is about to fall asleep... football comes on. Everyone in the family likes to watch football. We have such a good time together. We get together, but it is something about Thanksgiving that allows you to put day to day life aside and be thankful for all the blessings in your life.

November 4th

Obama is our next Chief and Commander! Wow! I think that both Obama and McCain gave great speeches! I was glad to see McCain offer his help to Obama. That goes to show that we had two stand guys ready to run the country! I voted for Obama, but I wouldn't have been upset if McCain would of ran. This is by far the best presidential race that I have been apart of. I was a little surprised that the race was not closer than it was though. I also thought it was weird that colorado went democratic in their vote. Where I work and the people that I seen and talked to didn't seem to have voted for Obama. I was wondering where were his supporters? Obama has a long road ahead of him! His first task will be to tackle our current economic problem! I think that Obama will surround his self with smart people and will be able to to get our economy growing again! Way to go Mr. President!!!

Trick or treat

This week I am take my two little one's trick or treating. My son Justin will be the blue power ranger from Jungle Fury series and my daughter Brooklyn will be Minnie mouse. Justin is very excited and has been asking me every day is it halloween. He wants to put on his custome everyday! I think we will go to the mall and then around the neighborhood. My nephew Daequan turned 1 years old on October 28th and I will be hosting a costume party for him on Saturday where the adults have to dress up as well. I have not put on a costume on in over 12 years and I think it will be kind of fun. All my friends are very excited as well.

Hello

This weekend was good! I got to watch DA Bears get a win! I am a Chicago sports fan! I like the Bears, Cubs, and the Bulls! So after a couple of games where they didn't play so good the Bears are starting to gel! I am a Denver Bronco and Denver Nuggets fan as well. I guess I should keep hope alive for the Broncos but it is hard after seeing them lose 41-7 to the Patriots and to add insult to the injury Jay Cutler is hurt. The defense needs help on the Bronco team. I think that is their biggest weakness right now. Ironically, I think that is the case for the Bears as well. For years the Bears have had one of the most dominating defense in the league, but offense could not do anything. Now with Kyle Orton doing more then running the offense the defense can stop other teams from scoring. I am pretty sure Coach Lovie Smith will start to get on the defense and they will start to step up as the season progresses. The bronco's on the other hand..... The defense will need more than what I think Coach Mike Shananhan can help with.

The bailout

Well, it is 1:52 PM MST and the market right now is up 813. Liquidity was injected into the world's central banks and a interbank lending guarantee by the government. I was waiting to see what the bailout would do to help. I just wonder what took it so long to take action. The european makets in my mind helped get our markets started. They did their bailout and moved very quickly to get funds put into their market. I only hope that these actions are sustained.

Now what?

Well the house passed the bailout Friday and today the market went down 800pts. It was nice to see we closed down 369.88 considering. What now? Well, we have to wait to see how quickly the bailout start to show signs that it is working. Will people get to refinance and have banks got rid of their bad debts. I have heard a lot of talk that the bailout came to late. Only time will tell.

Roller coaster market

10/02Well the bail out package has made it to the second line of defense. We are now in a waiting game to see to if congress get enough votes to pass it this time. This deal has a lot of things added to it to try to get congress to like it better. They have a lot of things included in the plan that don't have anything to do with the financial crisis, like tax cuts. Maybe they trew it in as a sweetner to make it easier to digest. They vote on it Friday 10/03/08. So we will see.

The VP debate is on tonight. I will be interested to see what both sides have to say. In the first debate I thought both party's dodged a lot of the questions. I think both Palin and Biden will be more up front about the issues that they are asked about.

roller coaster market.

In the past two days, we have had a crazy market. Yesterday we were down 771 points on the dow jones, 199.61 on Nasdaq and 106.62 on the S&P 500 index. All were historical drops. A lot of it had to do with the bailout plan getting rejected. Congress however today said that a bailout plan will eventually pass. That among other things gave the market confidence. The Dow was up 485, the Nasdaq was up 98.60 and the S&P 500 was up 58.35. Very interesting. I wonder what would happen if the bail out plain never happens. Would the market go in duress again, or would it rally as it did today without a plan? Only time will tell.

week 4

I don't know what to blog about this week. My daughter is 6 months 3 weeks old and she started crawling in week one in her 6th month of life. So it is time to start better baby proofing the home. I have to pick up all my 4 year old son's small toys and put them away. It is so funny to me that 2 weeks into crawling and she is already pulling herself up on everything. I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Her brother started crawling at 5 months and was doing the same thing. I knew it was coming and kinda wanted to hurry up and get to this point. Now that it is here.... I want time to slow down. Six months has gone by entirely to fast. Before I know it I will have a 8 year old and a 4 year old. I am on a 6 year plan to finish my college degree and I want that to go by fast, but not at the expense of my kids growing up just as quick. I joke with my wife that my son and I will be sitting at the table together doing our homework. Which is fine, I hope that sets a good example for him and my daughter. I want them to go to college and I want to be able to prove that college is important. It will be nice not to be a hypocrite when I discuss college and my desire for them to go. Now I know that college is not for everyone and I will not be foolish enough to think I can force them to go. I will however strongly encourage them to pursue higher education. Well, only time will tell what is in store for my little ones. I hope time takes it's time! I would rather slowly get through college than time going by too fast!

Fall is around the corner

I am glad that it is starting to cool off! I like the summer and being able to go to the park, camping and hiking. But I am heat intolerent. I don't like anything above 75%. My wife once upon a time wanted to move to Phoenix. We went there to visit her brother in July. I felt like I was under a blow dryer 24/7! Needless to say that Phoenix is off my list of places to live! At least during the summer seasons. I hear it is really nice in the fall and winter time. The winter is nice because I get to snowboard. That is one of my favorite things to do! I wish I had picked it up sooner. I started snowboarding a year after high school. Do only thing I don't like about winter is the horrible drive and dirty snow! When it first snows and it sticks to the trees, lawns and rooftops......nothing better. I remember after a big snow I used to have artic adventures and journeys walking through the snow. Fun times!

Week 2

So I am starting my second week of school and I made it through the first week. This week I am going to go get my student ID. One of the benefits of having one is student discounts at the movies. I doubt if I ever make it to the movies again, but it is nice to know I have that choice. I have a six month old daughter Brooklyn that started crawling this past weekend. It very exciting to see her development from birth. This is my second go round watching these developmental stages as I have a 4 year old son Justin. He started to crawl at 5 months and walked at 12 months. I wonder when my Brooklyn will start walking? I am not trying to rush this but just curious. I actually wish I could freeze time! They grow up so fast. Before I know it, Justin will be asking to borrow the car and brooklyn will want to tag along and cramp her brothers style. Time really moves fast when you don't take time to smell the roses. I hope that I am being a good father and husband. I have found that I don't watch as much tv, because I am helping Justin with writing his ABC's, playing peek-a-boo with Brooklyn. I am fortunate to have family in town! I just have to use them more to spend more time with my wife. I don't want to let life pass me by. Well any way, pretty funny not much on school in week two, I am getting ready get into the credo assignment for my English class and read chapter for my Western Civilization class. I see you next week!

1st day of school

Today is my first day of school. I have been out of high school for at least 10 years. I have been planning on going back and furthering my education for some time now. Better late then never right. I currently work at Charles Schwab and started there as a intern right out of high school. Don't get me wrong you can make a career with Charles Schwab and I still plan on it, but I want to be prepared just in case things change. Higher learing has been important to me, but even more so now that I have kids. I want them to get a college education and don't want to be a hypocrit. I also feel with more schooling I will be better equipped to do my job. I have been there for a long time and I am good at what I can do, but in everything in life there is always room for improvement. So I start my path to better myself with day one of the rest of my life. I am excited and motivated! I will be back after week one and note how it is going. So until next time.
